The Tactical Modular Audio System (TMAS) is the latest generation of tactical communication and hearing protection solutions from 3M Peltor for military, police and special operations forces.
The 7th generation ComTac system is an absolute "game changer" and changes everything that was previously possible with a tactical hearing protection headset.
The ComTAC VII headset, the TEP-300 electronic earplugs, the SCU-300 central control unit and the RCU-300 remote control work wirelessly. This reduces set-up time, increases manoeuvrability and enables new, additional operating surfaces, e.g. on the gun barrel.
This gives the user faster access to system-critical communication: the integrated NIB function (bidirectional short-range radio, integrated in the headset) allows the user to speak directly to people around them without restriction, even at high ambient noise levels, provided the volume is above 80 dB. Below this level, the integrated microphones enable direct communication with the team in the vicinity
The increasing or decreasing volume of the NIB signal can also be used to localise people in the vicinity. The system uses its own frequency without scattering and has a maximum range of 10 metres. Eavesdropping or even localisation from a distance is therefore impossible
